LOTUS
Lube Oil Testing Unit for Ship [LOTUS] is a state-of-the-art lube oil monitoring system designed to revolutionize how ship owners and operators ensure machinery reliability and efficiency. By providing real-time, actionable insights into oil condition, LOTUS helps predict potential issues, prevent costly breakdowns, and optimize equipment performance.
With LOTUS, you gain the power to enhance operational transparency, reduce downtime, and maximize the lifespan of your machinery.

The unit can be used in monitoring multiple equipment, as it is portable with a frame. The equipment can be attached across any 2 tapping points on lube oil line. Suggested installation is across lube oil cooler’s temperature gauge with a 3 way connector (provided with product)
All 3 aux engines can be connected to 1 LOTUS system via pipe modifications.
In portable mode, various equipment selectors are provided for interchangeability.
LOTUS-v2 comes with an automated sampler on the unit. The crew onboard can use this sampler to obtain in use samples. Simultaneously a report is generated for a 1 hour time window to record oil quality that is sampled for cross-reference with laboratory.
This facilitates taking samples for comparisons, other purposes, directly from in-use oil, in an unbiased manner.
This is aimed at reducing human error in processes.
The unit is designed to be installed across multiple equipment onboard ship, without any shore / external assistance. The unit only requires to be powered up and shall carry out detection – data record and transmission functionality seamlessly.
The frame provided can be easily assembled onboard as well for use. The panel has mounting points as well, were the decision to be permanently mount the panel for an equipment’s oil condition monitoring.
Test Bed Data
Test bed of LOTUS-v1 was conducted successfully on a MR Tanker – MT AYOE. The kit was installed on the auxiliary engine of the ship. LOTUS-v1 provided continuous offline monitoring of system oil quality detecting degradations, contamination and presence of wear debris in the flow.

- Total Base Number
- Water content (Free water and Water in oil)
- Fe and Non-Fe content
- Fuel contamination
